wood sculpture – Liquid Illusion

Inspired Original Art by Jerry Ward
Wood Sculpture by nature of the material – is Solid. But I play with that fact with my title. There is a purity of context here in my simple desire to question the reality of the “solid” provided by the media, by contrast to the visual impression put forward by the treatment of the for, which appears to be more fluid and moldable. The illusion is liquid, the reality is solid. Things are not always as they seem. So many times I have been asked by a person viewing a sculpture of mine – “Is that really wood?” My reply is always the affirmative. But I always want to ask them “If you can’t tell the difference, does it really matter? My suggestion would be, especially in the case of art, to always go with your fantasy, illusions are known for their elusiveness.
