Breaker is a rare "direction" in my work in that it is horizontal in its stature.
However; within the mental process I use to conceive these forms, it seems more recently to be suggesting that there most likely will be more of this type to come. The grain in the wood for this piece was the major contributor to the to its conception. The in and outs of the form generate a wavy visual effect in relief of the otherwise straight grained wood. This effect results in the intensification of the stylized wave action provided by the overall shape of the sculpture. Blue wood dye was used for color, and by rubbing to allow the grain and color of the wood to emerge, it rendered the blue to various shades of green supporting further the aquatic feel of the piece. The wood grain has been "stressed" to simulate driftwood for yet another element to put the breath of a watery world into this work.
